The Stoneyford River rises in the lowland meadow and rush pasture habitats of Slievenacloy, some of the rarest grassland habitat in Ulster. It drops down into a sheltered valley where you can explore its species rich banks. It passes the Stoneyford Reservoir, close to the village of Stoneyford which originated as a small linear settlement situated beside a fording point on the river which gives the village its name.
